For my LJ f-list, thought I'd out myself as being completely and wildly enthusiastic over a certain actor and at the same time say thank you for letting me join the Essential James Marsters community. At the urging of my 15 year old daughter, I started back in July on Buffy Season 1. She kept telling me that her favorite character was Spike. I was, like, uh no.

Cut to: Just finished the last episode of Season 6 Disk 3 (Gone). A part of me can't seem to move forward to watch how this relationship will fall apart.

James Marsters however, starting in Season 4, became MY favorite character. I mean, who knew? This actor gets all of it right. Emotions fly across his face like the weather and he breaks your heart. His character is maybe one the the smartest villians ever written for the small screen and I'm wondering how come I never knew of his existence. It's not like he's made the cover of magazines or been in the press a whole lot, if at all. Yet he has such an impressive background and some very cool accomplishments.

So, being a LJ person, I'm happy to have a place where I can wax philosophical and no one will laugh at me.

P.S. by the time I do my next entry, I will hopefully have a decent James icon...stay tuned.

Thanks,
Annie

This is going to be a pretty emotional parting of the ways with Danny boy. I both dread his leaving and am giddy with excitement at Tyler's return. In retrospect, I only saw Tyler once, way back in March, but he was the one I watched throughout the show. It was hard to keep your eyes off him, that adorable smile, his excellent dancing, his high sweet voice.

My second time seeing the show was 7 months later and for the next 19 times (I think) it was almost always Danny. He has so grown on me. I love all his shtick certainly, but what I'm going to miss is his powerful singing and riffing. It has become so deeply ingrained that I fear if Tyler doesn't step up his game, it's going to be a disaster.

So here's hoping that we give Danny a major sendoff and shower him with the attention he so rightly deserves. But here's also hoping that upon Tyler's return, he brings us something fresh and that it isn't just a carbon copy of the original. Though the show changes in only very small subtle ways, it's the energy behind the performance that can make the show soar. We all know Tyler has that energy. Perhaps he'll raise the bar yet again.

Do it!
